I've heard of people cellaring their tobacco, and it seems that that these VaPer blends are well-suited to aging. I'm planning on buying a bunch of tins, and some bulks to seal up in mason jars-- and finding out what happens.

For those of you that have aged some tobacco before, do you have any tips you'd like to pass along? And, how long should I expect to age them before there is any appreciable difference? Thanks in advance for any advice.

BTW, has anybody tried Luxury Bullseye Flake? What are your thoughts?
Have no idea about the luxury bullseye but i've had (and have) few tins of Orlik bullseye flake. It's va-per/cavendish and personally i like it because of not too much of perique. Cannot say for sure but i haven't found much difference between Orlik and Dunhill navy rolls (??)

As for cellaring, most tins i open are at least 2 years old except my everyday tobaccos, such as Erinmore or Capstan. However, i have few tins of McB navy flakes from 2001 and 2006 (i think, far too lazy to check out now) as well as an unopened tin of local Frisco tobacco (factory was bombed down in WW2). Also i have a bottle of Dobbelkorn vodka distilled in 'tool Germany' (DDR) about 1975 or so) but this far i haven't seen a reason to open them quite yet ). Maybe when my kids get married or then not.

In general i try to keep my tins unopened at least for a year or two, with those i open and not plan to smoke away i keep them in the ordinary glass jar. You get them plenty enough in everyday life. Some are suitable for storing tobacco but with with some you just get rid of the original scent (chili etc) and those i take to recycling station.

As what i've seen in the internet, some folks have their cabinets full of cellared tobaccos but that is not the case with me. I have few blends that i'm happy with and the rest are just some for special events only (such events are very rare if not nonexistent).

I like how you think Tomi. I like variety okay but I would be more a creature of habit with tobbaco. I like my plum cake. And Orlik is pretty good too. But for every day stuff I seem to go back and forth between the MacB Scottish blend and Virginia No.1. As for the Vodka....as soon as your daughter says "Daddy I just met the most wonderful man" ..... Start drinkin !! Off to shave and then work...cheers guys !

    Tomi,
the right name of this stuff is "Nordhäuser Doppelkorn"
It is a difference between Korn and Vodka.

Guess she has already found the boy and at the moment it happened that poor boy had no changes to escape any more As they met he was still serving in the army and going to Afganistan but after he returned, he quit the military and got back to his studies and soccer. I guess we'll see the wedding within a year or two. They now have a house of their own from few miles from where i live.

The one and only real vodka is Russian or Finnish of course, but i have to admit (for this time only) that Stolisnaja is smoother and better than anything what it comes to vodka. We have few specialites like Finlandia that is made for tourists and Koskenkorva (whitewater falls) that is #1 for locals. Howevers, i'm not too much of a vodka fan these days (think i got overdosed in my army days) so nowadays, on those rare occasions i take hard ones it's Baltic state liquers like Wana Tallin or Riga Balsam or maybe Unicum Swack.

We have this well proven method (works every time) called 'Russian love drink'. Mix half of Wana Tallinn and half Russian/Belorussian champagne and give it to the lady of your choice: first comes the crescent to wipe her feet and then comes the hammer to wipe her brains.

(propably my wife used this method with me back then).

I keep puffing away. I'm currently changing jobs...again. I accepted an offer at my old job with promotion and raise. While the potential for earning is greater at my current job, the added stress, 70-80 hour weeks, general unhappiness and state of the dealership make it more than worth going back to the job I loved.

As for pipes. I'm currently eyeing a Erik nording and another peterson. I've also managed to stock up on University flake as the shop 200 feet from my house now carries it. Still puffing away on my go to of OJK, and Uni flake.

No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine
