I've been very busy lately with work and family, all good stuff. Still smoking 1-2 bowls a week, and I am really enjoying these pipes and tobaccos. So far I don't see it affecting any hiking in the Sierras, cycling, running, or sprinting up and down the basketball court. I am working from home today, catching up on mail, emails, and research, so I'm going to work outside this morning while it is cool and pleasant with another new pipe, a Nording Bison. I like the look of this little pipe, and I am really liking this Capstan. You all have a great day!

Friday late evening and home coming pipe. Smoking Erinmores from Charatan and the first cold touch of Estonian lager at my backyard while listening to evening rain.

This evening I'll be enjoying a bowl of Cornell & Diehl "Irish Blessing" in my Peterson "Dublin." Hallelujah!

I've not had MacBaren Virginia #1 in ages but it does seem to be one of only two virginias that I ever cared much for, the other being Rattray's Old Gowrie. I guess I'm just a Burley Codger at heart. I've promised myself to sample some Orlik Golden Sliced to expand my virginia repertoire a bit. I've heard it's very tasty. Presbyterian Mixture has also been on my try list for ages.

I'm so new to the pipe world, I hesitate to offer suggestions. But, when Orlik Golden Sliced came up, I will speak up. I will not try to dazzle you with BS, I don't know how to describe it. Other than, I really like it, it's not a candy smoke, but has a "real" tobacco taste to it. Besides, your pipes are probably getting tired of the OJK!!! JK. But, give it a try, I'll wait for your evaluation of it!!

In fairness, OJK is 25% Red Virginia and 25% Perique. Now that you mention it, I think I'll have a cob full of OJK with my coffee on the lanai tomorrow morning.

You'll probably like the Orlik then as it is Virginia laced with Perique. I like it, but the Perique gets a little throaty for me.

Reload on some MacBaren Virginia #1, pick up some Orlk and Presbyterian before the ages escape you. I was going to wait untl I was 80 to pick up pipe smoking, but you all helped persuade me to try it now, just months before turning 50, and I am glad I did. Life passes with much haste.
