Finishing my early morning (for me) bowl of Bayou Morning in a Sea Rock. Cut some more of the Brown Irish rope and letting that sit a bit to dry, will try it before I go to work and will also cut a few more slices to dry overnight and try that tomorrow. Kind of fun to play with but I think I'm more of a grab my pouch, stuff the pipe and smoke kind of a guy.

Smoking some of the Gawith Hoggarth & Co.: Brown Irish X Unsliced. Cut it this morning and let it dry about four hours. Really quite impressed, lots of flavor but probably not for the faint of heart. Having it in a KKKK Sea Rock. Looking forward to trying the others. The Happy Bogie will be next. Thanks again, Iz6.

Samples are still up for grabs, for anyone else that would like to try rope. I'll be happy to mail them to you, free of charge, to keep passing it forward.

Funny thing, I smoked some of the latest batch of G&H rum flake (500 gram packet) that I just received the other day, and it knocked me for a loop. Either I'm not able to handle as much nicotine as I used to, or this is a potent batch.

Real cool that you are doing this Bob. Especially since you are a relative newcomer to pipes. I had thought of getting some of that blending tobacco, and some straight perique, I've known guys that did that years ago. I just never got around to it.

I have experimented with blending one or another tobaccos when I'd get to the bottom or a tin, or a bulk bag. Mix whatever together. Usually with satisfactory results for me. As a guy on an old smoking forum used to say, 'I'm a common sewer of tobacco.'

Had some Rum flake last night tasty and although vitamin N was in sufficient quantities but I didnt break a cold sweat or anything. In general the fresher the tobacco the higher the nicotine. Un fermented tobacco has more than fermented. Relatively speaking given the same type. So maybe your fresh delivery was a little higher than usual.

Funny I had rubbed out some peter Heinrichs dark strong flake and had a little left over after packing a bowl. Well next bowl I just dumped that in my pipe and covered it it with Rum Flake. I was not offended at the result. Hey ya never know.

Nice to put a face with your posts Rusen. I have enjoyed seeing your pipes.

Today I tried a new way, for me, of loading my 1980 Boswell slanted billiard with McClelland's black woods flake. Palm rubbed the flake to what looked enough tobacco, put all the tobacco in the palm of my hand and placed the pipe chamber down with my other hand and just twisted the the pipe back and forth and it loaded the pipe perfectly. I had read about this on some pipe guys blog and was surprised it worked so well. After the first lighting just did a slight tamp with my finger and the rest of the bowl smoked just fine.
