That picture just reminded me of my Army days some 30 years ago. The Colt 1911 was issued as my side arm at some point in my short military career. I loved going to the range with it and plink targets for a few hours. The part that was not so much fun was cleaning the hell out of em with the crappy solvents and lubricants that were GI issue at the time. Made a relatively simple cleaning job a PITA. This of course was only magnified by the meticulous armorer who would reject weapon turn in if he found the slightest wisp of carbon on a patch or q-tip. Some of my GI buddies at the time got wise and went to a gun shop and bought proper cleaning materials this made things so much easier you cant imagine. but god forbid the brass catch you using something like that they would claim that if it wasn't army issue it might hurt the weapon. lol gun politics I guess. excuse the off topic rant sorry I have no pipe musings to post I have a bad cold and trying to stay away for a bit.

Sorry to hear about the cold, I just got over one. Had my first bowl today in a week. A little margate to break the fast, it was pretty amazing all the floral notes I wasn't able to pick up before taking a break. Sorry for the lack of pics but my phone got run over by a 3/4 ton pickup on monday and I haven't replaced it yet.

Now theres a pipe maker that has caught my eye for some time now. What your take on Nordings? Are they a good pipe to eventually add to my stable? Is there one in particular that is a good smoker. please share your experiences with Nording free hands. I find them to be rather reasonably priced for the apparent looks and quality of make.

Check Payless Pipes, they just sent out an e-mail today with their Nordings on sale. Always been a good economical pipe. I think I had one about forty years ago, probably in a box in the basement someplace.

I was extremely lucky to have its one gifted to me by a good friend on the forum. Great smoker . Nice long smoke with the size of the pipe . But I would definitely add another one to my rotation

Just my favorite old craggily Castello filed with C & D Exclusive and a mug of milk before I head to bed.
