Seven hours since I left work and leaving to head back in for a meeting, too early for me. Having Bayou Morning in a little Black Sea Rock with plenty of coffee.

Getting very hot here which limits my time in the garage or out on the patio. Looking at 106F tomorrow and 108F the following day with 100F days through next Wednesday. may help!

Enjoyed a pipe of Captain Earle's Ten Russians a bit ago and it was much more mild tasting and smooth than I expected for a pressed latakia. It is heavy, sticky, and black as coal. Palm rubbed it and let it sit out for about 10 minutes and it was good to load. Had a fair dose of nicotine and was relaxing. I do not know that it will become a staple and I will give it go a couple more times before deciding.

Today also brought my first new pipe. A beautiful freshly made J.M. Boswell. Besides my Brandon Brooks pipe this Boswell my venture into a non-traditional shape. It has a perfect draw and I am looking forward to getting to know this pipe.

A couple of cobs of GP Triple Play. Opened the tin and the aroma made me think of raisin bread with a touch of citrus backing it up. Broke off a chunk and palm rubbed it and was surprised to find large pieces of leaf in 3 different colors. Gave it 15 minutes and it packed and burned just fine. A bit tangy but mostly smooth smoking and the strength kind of sneaks up on you. Left me trying to remember what else I had to get done this afternoon.

I received a Castello SC56 sea rock in the mail that I got off of the bay. This seller does not clean his pipes in any way at all. He sells them as he gets them. I soaked the stem in everclear for a couple of hours and then reamed it with Q tips and pipe cleaners until they came out clean. Polished the stem with Renaissance and it came out beautiful. Same cleaning process with the rest of the pipe interior. Then used a sweetner liquid in the bowl and shank. I used a well broken in shoe brush on the briar exterior just to remove dust and grime that had settled in. I am not sure that I should do anything else with the briar.

I am looking forward to getting to know this pipe.

Just more Bayou Morning in a little brown Sea Rock. Have to get up early to help my wife at an art show all day tomorrow, but I did take a vacation day from the real job.

I too have been smoking a little more Latakia, maybe three or four bowls a week. After smoking Virginia Periques, it seems to kind of wake up your taste buds a little with the change of the type of tobacco. Still don't think I'll go back to it as my primary smoke but I have been enjoying some. As a matter of fact I have a roll up of Exclusive and a roll up of Mountain Camp (Latakia) that I'm taking to my wife's art show today.

Right now is just my wake up bowl of Bayou Morning in a little Black Sea Rock.

I agree changing it up helps refresh your senses. Nightcap is nice because I get both my Latakia and Perique fix in one blend.
