I've tried most of the OTC burley and prefer Carter Hall What are some of your favorite burley blends?
I have a place locally I can get PA, Half and Half, Sir Walter, etc. but the price is generally far more than I'm willing to pay ($45 for a tub of PA, Come On!). These days, I order pretty much everything on line even with shipping it's much cheaper than buying it locally.

    1. C&D Old Joe Krantz 2. Granger 3. Definitely PA (that's burley 101) 4. C&D Billy Budd (wait I still owe you a sample of that) (5,6, and 7 are a bit more aromatic but very good) 5. Sugar Barrel 6. McBaren Navy Flake 7. Peterson's University Flake

I hate the fact that this is true. I wish I had a local store that had good prices. Last time I stopped in a local store I bought some McBaren Navy Flake it was about twice as much as I can get it online for.

I will second that. I have only smoked a couple of tobaccos with burly in the blend that I like.

Since I went thru my rotation of VA pipes, I'm on to the VA'per pipes. The only VA'per I currently have open is the St Jame's Flake, the jar I opened yesterday. So today, SJF it is! In the half smooth/half rustic Autograph 4. Yum.

Thanks for you nose perspective... I always smell fruit, but never identified one... YES... Grape it could be on Orlik!

Interesting! I always get a strong citrus aroma, orange to be exact, when I crack a tin of OGS. This citrus does carry into the smoke. A wonderful flake!

Just the other day I was thinking I should pick up another pipe to dedicate to Opening Night, as I love this flake. Today, my lovely wife & kids gave me this beautiful Julius Vesz pipe for Father's Day. She also picked-up the pipe stand its sitting in. Don't know much about Vesz, but it is seems well made and has a nice, open draw. Smoke the first half bowl out of her this afternoon, and she should make a fine smoker once broken in. My wife was in Toranto a few weeks back for a convention, and this guys shop was located in the mall attached to her hotel. Pretty cool.

Since I gotta let this one rest a bit, I'm currently enjoying another bowl of Sammy G's SJF in a Savinelli Milano.

Telegraph Hill in the BST Horny Dublin. It's a hot, humid evening on the balcony.

C&D Billy Budd in a Whitehall Grand National. Great smoke but this stuff really is a Latakia bomb. I think OJK and/or Storm Front will be my next order.
