I concur! I got to see Willie play in Spokane WA in late '79 or early '80 and what a show! I can't remember what the guy's name was who opened the show but he was part of Kris Kristofferson back up band and he had a one time hit that went; "If you know you have problem and don't know what to do I can help" anyway he played just a few songs then Kris Kristofferson played for about a half an hour then Willie came on. They started the show with Whisky River and when they finished it the 20K in attendance went nuts!
I had really good seats and I could see Willies eyes and his face just beaming and he said "Hell, I know what's wrong" and left the stage only to return with a bottle of whiskey then opened it up, took a snort then passed it around the band and once everyone had a drink the played 'I Gotta Get Drunk'.
Willie ended up playing for over 2 & 1/2 hours and not a single break! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

I don't care for the 'Official' video so I hope all will enjoy this live version.

Thanked: 2284For a guy who normally sings kinda scary songs, he definitely shows his talent here. Instead of screaming like he normally does, he sings like he was trained when he was younger.

I conducted some research on this group and listened to some of their other music. I was DISTURBED. They are pretty hard core but that man has a voice with a lot of range. Can't say that I'll listen to their music, but his rendition of the Sounds of Silence was beautiful. I was also impressed with the band playing tympani's and traditional orchestra instruments. Go figure huh?
Semper Fi !
