It's not often you see a blackhawk in our part of Bavaria, but when you do, you can guarantee they are going to conveniently land it right beside my building and leave the damn thing running for 2 hours.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a baseball be very bad for those turbines?

Eh, as soon as they release the rotor brake, the baseball would fly off. It's also got too much mass. It'd never get picked up off the ground. Now, a 75 meter piece of engineer tape... that's another story. We almost destroyed an AH64 on Ft. Rucker because the trainee pilot didn't know we were out there doing land nav (the engineer tape marked off our pace count course) and he came in and hovered about 30 feet off the ground. The tape picked up and went straight for the intake, but I guess the instructor pulled off. It was questionable for about 20 seconds wether or not he was going into the pines.

Alabama is a fun place. Haha.
