it's worth it just to see gary pick up a strat again.. just goes to show you the gear doesn't matter, A great guitarist will always sound like themselves..

Guys. I've decided this thread should really become a video thread for great tunes. We seem to all be on the same wavelength so far and if we're not we're constructive about it. This is virtually unheard of on any music forum I'm a member of.

I propose the name of this thread becomes "When Music Didn't Suck" and should be for the great tunes that cover bands never play..

    I'll start with this

I saw AC/DC in 1980 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, when i was a younger lad. And now at 55 i would see them again in a heartbeat!!! They were the best sounding band!!!!!! When i use to drag race the 1/4 mile in the late 70's,this was the kind of music that was made for driving FAST. Even when i hear it on the radio today,my foot goes down on the gas pedal. Ahhh just an old man reliving his youth !!!

Love me some AC/DC, for sure. I've always had a special affinity for any band that could integrate bagpipes into a rock and roll song. Of course no discussion of AC/DC would be complete without a bit of Jim Brewer

Music that doesn't suck - marathon:

    More Moore - Red House:

Pardon the audio only - it's the best quality Hendrix I could find (early stereo is so cool).

    Stevie Ray - Voodoo Chile:

    Voodoo... MORE COWBELL, DAMMIT!

Faith No More - "War Pigs": (The best Black Sabbath cover to date - kinda better than Black Sabbath... go figger). Audio Only (The live versions I found suxors).

Back to Moore: With all these greats gone... seems like walking on "Parisienne Walkways" (TekBow, I like the Gibsons... they roar deeper than the Fenders into the Marshalls)

"The Thrill Is Gone"! Gary with BB... OMG!

    great vids tony!

I like 'pauls too, but i like the punch of strats thru an old cranked marshall. This is my personal pref obviously as there have been many many (x 1000) great songs played with pauls thru marshalls, but for me when playing, i always find that tone a little flubby.. thats down to me as a player though and my lack of ability.

The vai/satriani/malmsteen cover is good, but i think malmsteen always over plays.. There was something vicseral about hendrix that noone has replicated since, that guitar was screaming like it was alive. hmm, actually, don't flame but prince comes close. everyone always overlooks him. I can play those note progressions but it just doesn't and won't ever sound like jimi..

As for BB King, there's a man that proves one note can say more than a thousand

On the subject of the virtuosos.. here's a tune that doesn't suck. It's steve vai doing the unusual thing of playing for the tune instead of being a technical wizard, and you know what..? he's very very very good

his inner hendrix is coming out
