Thanked: 46Hmmm ... unless I can convince it to run in a VM I might be out of luck, then.

Check out 'Steam' if you haven't already - it's a PC game store and client program, they often have huge sales. You just purchase through the server and download games rather than buying a hard copy. All legitimate. Should be a top result if googled.

Thanked: 46I'm familiar with Steam, but all my PCs run Linux so there's no point paying much for software that might not play nice in a virtual environment.

COD, COD2, WAW, BF, BF2, Fear, LFD, LFD2... hell... I'll stop... I'm ate up. If you've played it, I've played it and if it's any good on PC I'm better at it than you are. I've only been gaming for 30 years.
My Steam account runs on 3 of my 4 hard drives 'cause I kept running out of room.
In fact I'm just back from a session of "Splinter Cell - Conviction" (after work) 'cause I had a pistol I hadn't upgraded... got that done. I'm up for a session of co-op just to get my last two weapons unlocked up and upgraded.
PS3 or XBOX ain't in the same league as PC, but unfortunately everything seems to be gravitating towards the consoles - which will end gaming as "I" know it.
I will stop gaming when everything becomes automatic... and it will be a sad day.

Thanked: 46Well i recently finshed my 5th playthrough of Dead Space and chewed through all the DLC for Boarderlands before starting on Mass Effect 2 with Dead Space 2 slated for after end of term. I don't think I'm doing too bad.
I do have a Pentium Pro 200 system on the bench here I got up and running that I have W2k on for novelty value but it can only run IDE graphics so it won't make the vid requirements. As for formatting this rig and installing Windows ... you have GOT to be kidding! I'd have to cough up thousands to replace the utilities and capabilities that are free on this with second rate, bug ridden dross, never mind the security failures in the OS itself. No, I'll keep my games on the consoles where they belong. At least there I can still play while the wife is on Facebook.

I got a copy of DeadSpace and couldn't play it... it wasn't keyboard and mouse friendly.
Mick... all you need to run Windows 95 is a piece of crap with a network card... I fire it up once a year - if that... once it boots I take it to DOS mode to play the classics - those games that won't run on anything else.
I do have several other machines in the network that are not crap. I have one machine in the network that is crap, but only serves as a game server for other machines in the network - and the local neighborhood hub.
Never throw anything away... one day you might need it for something...

Thanked: 2Everquest and WoW took up a substantial part of my late teens / early 20's. Worst time ever to get addicted to those games lol.
