Finally finished a play through of Mass Effect 2 (PS3) picking what came naturally. Now started another but this time picking every evil, intimidating, underhanded option I can spot, just for shiz and giggles.
Also picked up Resistance: Fall of Man which I've been after for ages. I've already finished Resistance 2 some time ago, I just never got to the first one when it was new. The option of playing the main story as a co-op campaign is a real plus.

Last game i finished was an oldie but i was surprised how much i liked it! 'singularity', Anyone played it?

I got half way though the new Duke Nukem a few weeks ago and i think they should have released that 10 years ago when they were first meant to LOL Wish i didn't pre order that one! Such a disappointment from the originals!

PS4 is only a little over 12 months away! I hope they don't go the cell technology again! and add a dedicated video card!

Probably wont be able to afford one anyway LOL

I have had steam running through wine, its a little lagy but it works. There are a few Linux games out there that aren't too bad, not great just not too bad lol

"Play On Linux" is one of the easier ways to get steam and other windows games running on Linux, It's all automated!

You do know the PS3 has a dedicated GPU, right? I stripped mine down (long story) and they run a nVidia 7300GS GPU. The cell processor ... seriously, there's a good reason that the majority of them built go into multi-million dollar super computers. Don't get me wrong, I think Sony Corporate are a bunch of a-holes, but it's the decisions that are the problem, not the technology. Microsoft made much better strategic decisions withe the 360 ... but the hardware is just plain flakey. In excess of 50% of units sold fail under warranty and most of the rest within 3 years after.
I don't bother with games on my PC any more. I suppose I could get any of the Quake or Doom series, since they all have naitve Linux binaries available, plus there are some interesting titles out there if you are inclined, I'm just not. I was running Call of Duty under WINE at one point. There were a few graphics glitches but otherwise performance was better than running it native on Windows, which surprised me. CoD2 needs DirectX so that was a no-show.

I just got an xbox 360 for my birthday, and it's...OK. The exclusives aren't that exciting, but some of the games honestly do look better on my tv than the PS3. Assassin's creed 2, Dragon Age 2, and Red Dead Redemption look markedly crisper, to name some examples. But the controller is clunky, and the interface is kind of goofy.

That being said, I just finished Bastion (Xbox live exclusive) and I freaking loved it. One of the most enjoyable and original gaming experiences I've had in a while. For you PS3 guys, if it hits PSN I would recommend it unreservedly, for the action/adventure gaming fans.

But man, November is going to be a killer. Uncharted 3 and Skyrim already on preorder...

Yeah, it has to have a GPU (it it dose need to render video some how) and it's the nvidia 7800 but its not relied upon like the xbox Radeon X1900 and or the Radeon x2900.. The PS3 GPU depend on the cells to make up for the lack of GPU power, from memory (i may be wrong) they dedicated a couple of the cells to assist with the graphics throughput.

Also, the mysterious redundant cell in the PS3 is a weird one too.

Over all there is a lot of processing power but then they are wasting it with the redundant cell and then making up for the lost GPU power and on top of that they don't have the RAM to fully utilize the all the CPU power, 256MB compared to xbox's 512mb. Games need memory! I know that alone was causing a lot of problems in the beginning with programmers converting the xbox games to the PS3.

I own the PS3 and i love it! I just think who ever came up with the hardware design for the PS3 should be shot!

PC benchmark for the following video cards, higher the score the better.

    PS3 Nvidia 7800: - 566
    Xbox Radeon X1900: - 699
    Xbox Radeon 2900: - 747
    Wii Radeon 4870: - 1743
PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmarks - High End Video Cards
    Edit: My Radion 6970: 3,148 x 2 lol (well maybe x 1.5 - 1.8 due to the crossfire )

Who would have thought a Wii would have a better GPU then both console! I used to have a 4870 and they were a freak of a card, was a lower costing card (i think i only paid a couple of hundred) and it killed them all at the time!

Another beef I have with the PS3 isn't over what it is, but rather what it could have been. They could have put way more GPU in there with very little effort, but chose not to. They could have put more RAM in there (256MB DDR3 standard) but chose not to. They could have left the Other OS feature alone, people were actually building super computing clusters with them including several universities and the US Deparment of Defence, but they chose to kill it (this had nothing to do with protecting their imaginary property rights imho and more to do with the various tax write-offs and product classifications/restrictions between consoles and computers). So many major decisions that could have been done better, but they chose not to.
