Well, the problem is the watch is not made by them. They bought it from some wholesale house and slapped their name on it. Actually the bracelets they make are way cooler.

True, reading on the site, the band has a 25 year warranty, the timepiece only 2..
Might not be a quality Swiss timepiece at that..

Yes, just read Bigspendur's post, yes, that is a JLC....very nice, and a spectacular piece, doesn't look like it's been polished, lines are nice and clean, not an inexpensive reference by any means...congrats!

what does everyone think of those new fangle dangled "smart watches"? it looks to me like whoever that has one, unless riding a bike could not be bothered to lift there phone from where ever the store it to look at it, so they spend half as much as the did on the phone just to add a screen to thir wrist.

Stop and think why pocketwatches went out of style. The convenience of not having to haul a watch out of your vest or pocket to see the time. As far as I'm concerned using a phone to tell time is just a 21st version of a pocketwatch and the smart watch makes telling time more convenient. Of course a smart watch does much more. I have one but don't use it for telling time.

I have a soft spot for 1940’s and earlier Hamilton’s. I am a sucker for Art Deco style stuff especially.

Had this exact conversation with someone the other day.....said the same thing. Using a phone for the time is like using a pocket watch, only an ugly and soul less one.

Surprised I've been reading lately many Millennials are starting to show interest in mechanical watches...lot of this is the result of celebrities wearing them. Patek, AP and Rolex on the wrists of some big stars...million dollar Richard Mille watches on Ed Sheeran's wrist, John Mayer is a major collector, Ellen and her Rolex's.....all over instagram....good to hear.

Almost bought an antique pocket watch to sit on my desk, a beautiful old minute repeater....great story behind the repeater, and of course the Tourbillon movements for the pocket watch which weirdly moved over to wrist watches....for close to half a million if not more.....:-)

Pocket watches when out because the wrist watch makes where paying actors and actresses to ware then, and then the wrist watch was precieved as "better" and the pocket watch declines in popularity.
It may take me a while to wanna put that kind of money out for a smart watch.
I keep lookin at the cheaper( <$100) that would be more like a dumb terminal and also a good battery run time.
Hope I didn't rant to much and Thank you for the reply.

The wristwatch makers were the same ones who made pocketwatches. Of course like straight razors once the DE came out the young flocked to it cause straights weren't cool anymore. That's initially, but after a time practicality and convenience were what spelled doom for straights and the same with pocketwatches.

You can pay all the celebrities and public figures and advertise all you want and the gullible will come but in the end to be a mass success it has to be a sound item. As far as being better it depends how you define that. Smaller, comfortable, yes. More accurate no, more precious no and fancier no.

Convience seems to be the definition of better, but with better the item loses functionality.
