Fortunate to have an independent authorised repair centre locally. Convincing the other half is the issue.

Here is an update on my great grandmother's watch that I first posted a few years ago. After the first post in 2013 I sent her to Australia for 4 months to a known watch maker down there. He could not find the parts there , so she was shipped home.
I kept her put away until 4 months ago & she was shipped to a watch maker in Franklin, North Carolina. The watch maker is Rusty Tuggle & he was able to find original parts to get her going again.
She came in today beautiful & working. She will go to a granddaughter , if I'm lucky enough to have one.
The woman who first wore this watch was my great grandmother & here is her photo at the time she would have been wearing it. She was 16 years old at the time of the photo. The photo is from the late 1890's.
Thanks for looking,,,,,,

Well done John!
But don't just put it away, wear it until you have someone to pass it down to.
Don't forget, if you do put it away wind it up at least 1x a month to keep the lube fresh or it will stop running within a couple of years. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thank you Nelson.
I took it around to friends today to show it off. Rusty said it was an "everyday" watch, the Timex of its day, but still adequate in keeping time.

I have a small collection of affordable watches, mostly Seikos. Had stayed away from purchasing a watch for 3 years as my funds where directed towards shaving but last Christmas I treated myself with the Seiko 5 on the first picture.
