It's a white Zunda from Beijing Watch Factory (BJWAF). A black dial version of the watch is also available.

When I scuba dive it is nice to have a quality watch that I would bet my life on.

Decraew - I'll give you the answer straight up - Vanity. Not many people are going to like this or even agree with it. However, it is just a status symbol that gives them a false sense of importance. It doesn't make people bad or arrogant, they just want to own a Rolex. They are outstanding watches but way overpriced for my preferences. That's truly what it's all about - preference. There are many watches out there you can count on when your life depends on it and they don't start a $5K.

Like the old saying goes, "If you got it, flaunt it!" and most people do when own them. Good for them! Take care of yourself and those whom you love. Everything else is trivial....

People buy Rolex for many reasons. Some buy because they feel it's the best watch in the world, some buy because it's THE Yuppie watch, some buy to impress and some buy because they know in ten years they can sell it and get just about what they paid for it. With any other watch you would be very lucky to get 40% what you paid for it and that's assuming it's in near mint condition.

    So take your pick.

Funny to see peoples reaction to Rolex. I could probably be wearing an Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin in titanium and nobody would react at all.

Nice one, and if you want to shower with it you can. A friend of mine uses his as his dive watch.

Sure, but there's many brands like that, so why is Rolex different ? And the value retention is there because they're so popular, not the other way round.

Edit: I know people who own Rolexes of whom I am certain they just buy them to show off. They couldn't care less about history, culture, craftmanship etc. The only persons buying Rolexes for the reasons you mention I met on watch forums.

You have to read about the history of Rolex and it's all there. It's about how they started out, how they advertised, their technical innovations, business practices and the quartz revolution in the 70s.

While other outfits were sleeping they were moving.
