Nah, small wrists lol. 35.5 mm case diameter. So you can imagine how a 46 mm case diameter would make it look like I strapped a wall clock onto my arm...

Typically with typical watches worn daily five years is the recommended service interval. Sometimes you can get away with a few more but usually the accuracy starts to slip and that's a sign it needs service.

A watch like that is chock full of very small parts that notoriously don't hold lubricant well and they tend to be very finicky. If worn daily (and I doubt anyone would wear a watch like that daily) five years would be a long time between service and if you stretch it a normal service charge for an overhaul which is probably a couple grand can quickly explode because a watch like that is really like a custom watch and parts have to be made and fitted and that ain't cheap.

Poppycock. A cellphone is a modern pocketwatch with folks having to drag it out to tell the time. That's why the came up with wristwatches.

I wear a pocketwatch every day. You can get a very nice leather pouch you wear on your belt.

I try to avoid the utility belt look, too bulky. If it doesn't fit in my pocket, I'm not takin' it! I hate carrying a cell phone too. It's such an essential necessity nowadays though, so I use my phone as my wallet with a special card holder case.

That just made my day! I never thought of cell phones being the modern equivalent to pocket watches. mind=blown. I'm now contemplating a pocket watch to tide me over....

However, I do agree with disliking carrying too many things. Especially on my belt... Good thing jeans still come with that 5th pocket...

...and the 5th pocket is the perfect size to carry: a pocket watch.

Whether it be a pocket watch or wrist watch,I hope watches will still be around for a very long time regardless of technology as they are just a wonderful looking accessory to have and I would be sad to ever see'em go in my lifetime.

I highly doubt wrist watches. Pocket watches might decline, but I don't know the extent of their following. I've known quite a few people that use watches for various reasons, especially those in the medical field. Many people my age group (25-35) still wear watches as decoration, even though some still take out their phones to tell the time. The other group are ones like me, that don't want to pull out their phone and/or have more faith in simpler technology for time zone changes.

Edit: OTOH, the popularity of smart watches may decrease the availability of watches or at least a few less popular manufacturers will go under. However, I think there will still be some market for many years.

Hope so and agreed ha ha. I love my simple ol watch and to me sometimes low tech is the best tech.......but then I digress lol.

Watches are like LP records. They will always be around. Newer contraptions like smart watches will come and go though.
