Speed laces and the good ones are very comfortable.

I've never served, but since I was fourteen I've always had one pair or another. I bought a pair of Corcoran re enforced leather toe, speed lace jump boots with the waffle bottom tread a few years back. They aren't for crap when keeping warm in the snow, but give enough traction so as not to slip when getting the mail. I call them my slippers. Usually I just throw my bare feet in and yank the laces to go do a quick chore outside or something. A must have for any Man.

I used to wear them all the time, 'til I wore them all out. I had a few pair when I got out many years ago. I just wear elastic sided work boots these days. Easy for this fat, middle aged man to put on without having to bend over my gut to do up laces...

Tell him to get some elastic sided boots and make up a couple of long shanked hooks to put through the loopy things used to hook your finger through to pull them over your feet. Use the long shanked hooks instead, and he'll save his bad back...Now, I've been meaning to knock some of them up for myself too. But I'll need to get one of them mirrors that they use to see around corners first, otherwise I'll be trying to find my feet for hours...
    Now go change yer undies.

The good old Blundstones are made in China now mate. They ain't as good as they used to be. I buy Redbacks as they are long lasting, lightweight, and 100% Australian owned and made. I go for steel caps too, as you just never know when you might need to discourage an over enthusiastic, and sexually active dog from doing a bit of leg latching...

Yeah I heard about their move, what a shame. Luckily mine were pre-relocation, but even they can't stand up to years of such intense oppression.
