    Some thing to think about. Not long ago I bought my wife a Glock 26 for home protection and to carry in the car when she needs to. When we took the fire arm to the range to practice we found that the gun would jam a lot. Stove pipe the empty. Now when I would fire the weapon it would function great. we worked with this for sometime. after consulting with a friend who is quite an authority in these parts we found that it was really not the firearms fault but that the wife could not hold the weapon well enough to keep it from having a terrible muzzle flip and this would cause the ejection of the empty to stove pipe. I today solved the problem. I traded the glock for a Sig Sauer 320 in 9MM In her hands this pistol functions great and with the sights as they are she hits good. Guess I'll have to watch my P's and Q's.

    No offence meant, but the technical term for that phenomenon is 'limp wristing'.

    Glad you got it straightened out.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    I have a Remington 31 pump that I found in my house when I bought it. I have oo buck shot on the night stand and the gun under the bed. I hope I never have to use it. I don't have any pistols but I am thinking of getting my permit. I never had pistols because my kids were younger and kids will always touch then. Even though I have girls and they have been tought proper handling and shooting of guns I couldn't take the chance. There older now and have a interest in pistols so I thought this is the year to get a permit and a pistol. Besides a gun in the house does not offer much protection if I walk into the house and get attacked.

    I was thinking of getting plastic and or rubber buck shot for my shotgun. I hear it is a safer way to go for the person shooting the gun. No going thru walls or ricochet. Any thoughts?

    My 2 cents;
    Use real lead, forget the rubber,,,, if over penetration worries you,, then go to #4 Buck or even # 6 shot.
    Many police department issue & only allow # 4 Buck for their patrol operations.

    For M1 Garand and M1A fans.

    'come ups'

    For those of you using either a Garand or an M1A, your trajectory studies are pretty simple. Just memorize the following numerical combination: 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 8, 8.

    What’s that?

    Those are your rear sight’s “come-ups” out to 1000 yards using standard M2 150 grain FMJ ammo for your .30-06 Garand and the standard M80 147 grain FMJ in 7.62x51/.308 with standard sights.

    good point never thought of using 4 buck shot. I made some loads of my own years ago with split shot connected together with wire. Never had the guts to try to fire one of them.

    When choosing ammunition for your firearm, pick the firearm & ammunition that suits the job its intended for;
    The environment it will be used in.
    The type of threat expected.
    Ease of operation.
    etc.,,,,

    The round you are describing is often referred to as a "Bolo" round,,, they are illegal in Florida & I believe NYC ,,, something to keep in mind.

    no offence taken. I knew there was a proper term but couldn't think of it so I just described it. guess I'm getting old and forgetful.
