thats a cool post and it would be cool to take a bear down with a flintlock.

Old thread, I know; but I finally got a flinter today. After two months of joblessness my bartering skills have gotten pretty decent. I traded 600 roundd of Remington Thunderbolt 22 ammo +$20 for this flintlock. It needs some TLC to reach its full potential, but the lock is good, touch hole has a decent looking liner and it appears to be a Green Mountain Barrel (based on how deep the rifling is). Plus the stock is out of this world gorgeous.

Good question... I think it's a .50 but I haven't checked yet ... I need to figure out how to take it apart and then check under the barrel for a stamp. There are no external markings on it.
Or I could probably grab one the .495 lead balls I have and see if it fits. And why I didn't think of that till now, I'm not sure.

Thanked: 1160If it's a 50, you got a deer rifle. That would be sweet.

This is my old Revolutionary War Era Fowler.
I have had it for 42 years. It was a gift from my gun collector uncle on my 21st birthday.
