Thanked: 13246Hunting Season 2012
Who is hunting what this year ????
I am chasing Whitetail Deer and Elk halfheartedly around the Selkirk mountains of North Idaho, the wife's boss is hunting for his first time so I got volunteered to take him up...
One of the nice things about living in the boonies is that I can load up the ATV's drive 3 miles south hang a right go 8 miles in, park and unload the 4 wheelers and be up into miles upon miles of back country don't really even need to set up camp..
Just been basically scouting while armed for the past few days, he and I are heading up Sunday morning to see if we can't find something for him to shoot This year I have pretty much decided unless it is really trophy class I am just not pulling a trigger...
Rifle of choice so far, since we are hunting deep timber is a Model 1895G Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 with the ported barrel. Loads are 405 Grain Lasercast bullets Chrono'd at about 1450 fps...
Would love to hear what everyone else is doing and what yer using.. Pics of equipment and firearms are welcome..
(Please if you post pics of kills keep them tasteful to non-hunters also)

Thanked: 88I've hunted ducks so far this season and have a new drake woody going to the taxidermist. I'll be hunting turkeys on Staurday for Pennsylvania's Fall season opener. We'll be hanging my son's tree stand for rifle deer season pretty soon, and I hope to get out a few times between now and that season with the crossbow for deer. I love to hunt, but it's going to be tough to get out as much as I like to for deer this year, between a big work project and school.
Shotgun - Stoeger M2000 12-gauge semi-auto: Duck - Remington Wingmaster 3" 1 3/8 ounces "hevishot" #4, Turkey: Winchester Premium 3" 1 3/8 ounces lead #4
Rifle - Remington 700 30-06 blued/camo synthetic: Deer - Federal Fusion 150gr
Oh, and the rifle/load work for groundhogs, too:

Re: Hunting Season 2012
For white tail I have a Marlin 336 (of the 1996 pre-cerberus takeover) that I'm planning to mount a cheap Konus muzzleloading scope to for gits and shiftless this year. I had a feller at the LGS order me the factory big loop lever for it so it is a bit easier to use with gloves. I'm hoping to see that by mid November.
I also picked up a T/C White Mtn Carbine in .50 . Hoping to find some real BP this weekend to use with it and have some fun since ML season here runs from Nov 3-January.
Both of those are for Black Bear as well since those seasons run concurrently.
For coyotes I have a PSA AR15 that I built last year with a 20" HBAR and an A5 RE. Super soft shooter and decent little semi auto tack driver.
I have a host of .22s for squirrels and rabbits but I'm digging the pellet gun for them this year.

I haven't done much for hunting in awhile, but recently I had to sit with my nephews so one could hunt bear and one deer. Neither got anything though, but from all the noise they were making I am not surprised. My brother got a nice bear this year though so far.

A very good friend of mine here in Merced brought this beauty down a few weeks ago. There will be elk steaks and lots of elk chili this winter! : )

I bow hunted deer in the Blues this year, and did spring turkey north of Spokane.
Everyone has to believe in something, I believe I'll have another beer.
