Yes, it's blurry, and yes, I know you love me. I'm just a little ('scuse the pun) bit over the 'tiny' thing now...

The tongues are suede, but I suppose I could get sine suede cleaner and a suede brush. Its not like they are my best shoes, I get a hard enough time for shining them without removing the laces, imagine the uproar if I took the laces out.

Saddle soap or glycerine soap and a damp washer mate. It'll be good then. And try for a bit more depth to that shine. It won't be long before the lads stop laughing and will follow your brilliant example.

I used to physically polish my boots every night and they were really lovely, but I was worried about polish build up, and they were taking on a reddish/ purplish tinge from one of the pigments in the polish.
So I stripped it all off, and started again, I really want to use some oxblood polish, along with the brown to get depth, yes it will probably cause the reddy tinge, we will see.
I also apply leather conditioner every few weeks, so if the polish is too thick, the conditioner won't soak in.
The initial polish or two I use water and polish on a soft cloth, and do tiny circles until its all gone and the Shine comes, after that its just a case of apply small amount of polish with brush, buff boots with a buffing brush, buff vigourously with fleece material. Pretty much all the excess polish comes off, and if I get a light scuff it will polish out on my calf.

Well there's your problem. Next time you turn up to camp with the boys, you'll need to have a few pair of stockings and show them how it's done! The fleece just isn't going to cut it like a nice pair of nylons will.

Are the sheer ones better, or should I go opaque? Though I dont have a great deal of space in my carry on, I will have to wear them
