And I think the previous discussion laid out the opinions of a number of our more senior members along the lines of not wanting these e-mails. If we continue to have these, I think they need to be opt-in, not opt-out. This holds with Lynn's and Azjoe's thinking (and mine as well!) Hopefully we make a change as I get very annoyed when I get messages like that from other sites.

Thanked: 1There are always two email options when you register at forums that are both almost always enabled by default. The first one usually has to do with accepting email from other members and the second one is from administrators.
To find these options, click User CP, then Edit Options. You'll see two check boxes there under the "Receive Email" section. I guarantee that unless you unchecked them when you registered, they'll both be checked.
Personally, I always disable "Receive mail from other members" because it is the most likely to get abused, and actually was over at B&B one time.
The start of this thread sounded like a witch hunt. In my experience there is a set way to deal with these types of things. First, contact the offending party privatley. If they don't get back with you then take it public if you feel the need. Personally, I'd post in the forums Site Feedback section and rant there about sending out spam. Usually, if their action is considered really bad, the community will agree and demand change.
To take it to a competing board that you are the owner of and start the smack down cries of what you accused the Den of: desperation to keep users and increase posting at your own forum.

Thanked: 416Gentlemen this thread has come to the point where it is no longer productive. I am closing it at this point before it gets out of hand.
