I'm an old guy of 64. I've been wet shaving almost my entire adult life. During that time I've worn out several shaving brushes and gone through a lot of soap. But my morning shave is still the high point of my day!

49 soon to be 50. I started with a str8 razor one month ago. I've wet shaved all my life. Started with a Trac II and most recently with a Mach 3. One day I decided that the Mach 3 blades were too expensive and didn't last long enough and didn't offer enough control. I decided to go back to the Trac II as blades were much cheaper. I couldn't find a regular supply so did a google search for razor blades. Ended up on a few sights and was then thinking about a DE, but read that a str8 gave the best shave. So I called my dad and asked him if he ever shaved with a str8 and he said never had, but his uncle swore a barbershop shave with a str8 was the best shave ever. The more I read on SRP I was ready to give it a try. I wish I had started 35 years ago, but I'm sure enjoying it now. I also like knives and anything with a blade. So this was a natural for me.

I'm 67 and just started last week. At my age, there are only so many cool things left to do! Seriously, I have been thinking about this for years, and just decided that there was no point in procrastinating any longer. I'm having a good time with this; my wife is rolling her eyes.

i am 17, and wanting to get into str8 shaving, mainly because the mach 3 I normally use produces a shave comparable in comfort to a belt sander, and nowhere near close to SAS

Like a lot of guys in this thread, I have been wet shaving since a teenager, starting with a DE razor, then tried a Schick Injector and several Twin/Tripple/Quad/Quin blade razors.
I did buy a straight when I was about 27 but never got to shave successfully with it.
I couldn't afford a strop and thought I could manage without (atleast for a while) so decided to use a sharpening stone not realising the correct way to go about sharpening I managed quite easily to put a frown on the blade.
So the idea af SR shaving was completely shelved until earlier this year when I decided to try again and discovered this site and the resurgence in straight razors.

RAD is a devil with all the best tunes, anyone who escapes is extremely lucky, and anyone who manages to save money is luckier still
    Age 47 btw
