    Josh,

Hope you will make a speedy recovery. You may be lucky to find a beautiful nurse willing to shave yo with an electric shaver, lol.

    Best of luck!

I didn't even consider the stropping part.

    I definately understand your resistance
to using anything but a straight. But
even with a DE your still experiencing
part of the pleasure with a badger brush
    and Colleens soap's and creams.

After it's all over and you can shave once
again with your straights. You will appreciate
    them more than ever.

That's a great idea Joe! My local barber told me if I'd bring one of my straights, he would use it to shave me.

Man, I didnt even think about the stropping. Well I know my wife would at least hold the strop tight so I could strop the razor. If I had too I can always drill a whole in the bad of the bathroom door and hang a strong hook and some rope to keep the strop nice and firm while using one hand to strop with.

As far as the barber thing two problems:
    1. I just cannot find anyone around this area to do it
    2. I don't feel comfortable driving with only one arm

There is a place about an hour out that will do it, but a two hour round trip making the wife drive to get a shave is pushing it lol!.

Thanks for the wishes on the speedy recovery guys, its really pretty minor stuff I'll be ok, it just sounds really nasty but for these surgeons its like you and I changing the oil in our car. Heck, tts even out patient surgery now.

ACL Reconstruction is outpatient too. I was walking without crutches the day after surgery, and took my last painkiller the day after as well. However, rehab was no picnic. The main place people run into trouble is with rehab. Have your surgeon recommend a couple of physical therapists, and contact them & visit with them before hand. When you find a PT person that you click with, it makes rehab a lot easier.

well my mom is a sports PT, I wouldnt want to work with her, I'll get some good names from her. I need someone that is VERY sports oriented to keep me from over doing it since I am so used to heavy training (other than this last number of months) I am afraid I will over do it and impress instead of upset someone who isnt very sports oriented.

That's why you visit with them ahead of time. Get your expectations on the table. They need to understand you and what your goals are. The average person typically will not rehab as hard as an athlete. I wanted to return to a normal level of activity, if not better because I wouldn't have a torn ACL to contend with. If the therapist didn't understand that, or didn't support that ("That's impossible") then it was adios. I found a great guy, and he really challenged me. It wasn't a torture session (ask me about my first ACL repair sometime), but rather it was a lot of work. A good PT person makes all the difference. You're largely self-motivated, as you want to return to a normal level of activity higher than the general population. With motivation out of the way, if you find the right person it makes a HUGE difference.

She will clean and scrub for me, she will bake for hours for me, and she will cook all sorts of fancy meals for me, but she will only shave me with a DE, she will not go near a straight, I have tried...

I don't normally recommend the feather ac, but it may work in your situation since you don't need to strop.

Or you could always use Nair. :-]
