It's not a movie but two or three nights ago I was flipping through the channels and came across HBO's "Big Love". I don't follow the show but happened on it during a scene in which a man was getting a str8 shave by a woman. It was obvious they didn't have a clue. The woman held the blade with the scales completely opened rather than at right angles to the blade and not held between the fingers. The blade was at the wrong angle to his neck and he was sitting upright rather than leaned back. And no skin stretching, either. They probably ground down the edge to keep anybody from being killed.

In the new movie "Eastern Promises" there is a scene in the beginning where a straight is used up close and personal....and not in the way we recommend.

Excellent film, btw. They really did their research into Russian language, culture, the vori v zakone lifestyle. Good thriller.

Gangs of New York. Priest Vallon shaves himself with a straight before the gang fight with the ny gang of Bill the Butcher. The straight itself is used by Vallon's son to kill Bill at the end.

Excellent movie with Daniel day Lewis in one of his best roles.

Wow I just sat here and read all 19 pages (whew).
I wish I knew the name of this movie, it seems no-one else mentioned it, but most of the film is about a straight.

During the movie a bloke and his wife buy a house in which he decides to do some renovating in their room. The main wall was sealed up with some type of metal tiles, and behind them is a straight. The guy takes it to a barber I think, to have the blade set (was the term used in the movie) and honed.
When the guy gets home he strops the razor and goes to shave but cuts himself (in the exact same place as the previous owner had) straight away. I believe in the film he shaves with it more.
Long story short the dude starts robbing banks and killing people with the straight.
Turns out the straight was actually cursed by its previous and this guy actually becomes possessed with the straights, previous owner's ghost or what ever.

I think this movie was the one that really got me into straights (sounds weird? maybe)

    Just mentioning it.

Yes. I've seen this film. The film is "Un chien Andalou" (See this link to IMDB). It was directed by Luis Bunuel and Dali wrote it along with Luis. It's from 1929. The scene is the very first of the film. It shows one man stropping a razor and then he opens wide a woman's eye and slices it.
One other film that comes to mind is also a Spanish film called "El Laberinto del Fauno" (See this link to IMDB) in with the "bad" guy appears several times during the film shaving with a straight razor, probably a Filarmonica (I don't know, I'm just guessing).

Just watched, "Zatoichi and the Chess Player." There one scene where the bath house fellow tells him not to move because he almost stepped on a razor. Plenty of other slicing and dicing but not with razors.

You know, I just read all these posts and I can't believe how many of these movies I've seen and I don't remember the scenes described. My first thought was the Capone scene in Untouchables, and of course the infamous Reservoir Dogs scene. Recently I watched Pan's Labyrinth, so I was thinking of that one too.

Although it's not technically a movie, I seem to remember a Simpsons episode where there was an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon; Itchy shaves Scratchy with a straight, with very predictable results.

Prison Break S3E03 there was a cross dressed inmate shave another inmates head, with the scales how do you say fully extended? If you watch it you will understand.

without watching the movie, who remembers what the barber offered clint eastwood in High Plains Drifter, for an extra dime with his shave. He said "the ladies love it"?
