Thats one of the joys for me in this sport, take a real dawg razor, bad everything, get the edge only back to good steel even if it takes a day,let her shave one more time just because thats what she was made for, than back in the recycle bin, never to be seen again.

Sunday. Well! Took out the Johnson again (razor that is!(:-)) rehoned it last nite. Know that I didn't give it a week to rest and regrow but ...what heck! About the same. Stopped after the first WTG to redo on the Crown barber hone. Blade ok. Not sure I'd pay 20$ for the shave but finished with an ok shave. Soap was the white bowl Proraso; Preshave was Noxzema plus; Brush: Muhle Badger; Alum; AS: Lucky Tiger; Balm: Nivea .

Think your right about the spare razor bin. Oiled her up. Still thinking about it!

Well i finished out the month with the stehlo. while the synthetic barber's hones i have do a great job and once set up allow for around 10 irritation free shaves, before needing attention. taking dull razors and making them sharp takes a bit of work and time. if i had to choose just one hone it would sill be a bbw/coticule combo. but we only have the limits our wallets allow... so i have more than that.
the combo takes me about 2 hours to remove a chip that is as deep as the bevel and have the blade shave ready... with the shapton plates it is around 1.25 hours.

today i used a 7/8 Livi in stag horn i could not remember it's shaving condition so it got 15 passes on the hunrueck and around 20/50 on the strop... no issues with the shave

    enjoy,
    jim
