Thursday. It's almost over.... Hope that next month won't be the PUMICE Month!! new everything today!!!! Razor: Geneva Cutlery, new to me this week. Looks brand new never honed. Did that last nite. Touched it up twice during the shave with the Keen Kutter barber hone; Brush: horse; Soap: new again, Nanny's Citrus Zinger, nice; AS: Superior 70, (Alcoholada 65%) nice burn!; Balm: Neutrogena, post shave.
Nice shave. New razor should be great after another honing.

nice. im thinking maby at a later month we should try to dull razors and completly sharpen them on barber hones and keep them sharp for a month. I say this was a sucess im just curious as to what a everyone has lernt about the barber hone and how simple maintaining an edge can be.

So I'll jump in sorta... I took a razor if mine that didn't really need a honing but I wanted to try out my swaty three line. Put a little wet lather in it and afterwards it was really sharp! Can't wait to try it out today.

It's been a experience. But I did change one major thing that I do. I started to read a bit more about honing and found the Popular Science Article on hones. Because of this month and the article I started to dry hone. This happened 1st with the Barber Hone and then with the other hones that I've been using. You know!... I think I'll keep dry!

Well I gave the Genco 8 no pressure passes on my Anchor and 10 on balsa crox and 20 on feox. Wow I love this razor. Barring unforeseen damage this could go on for a long time it seems.

I finished ATG and the Fool's Pass this was a landmark shave for me.

Strange shave today. Chged the rotation. Razor: different No Name, No Markings square point; Brush: N.N. Badger; Soap: strange! Gillette Shaving Cream (Argentina), good lather, good slide. but!! Razor would almost slide out of my hand when soap became heavy on my fingers more than with any other soap I've used!! Preshave: Noxzema Plus; Aftershave: Thayers Cucumber w Witch Hazel; Balm: Nivea Protective. Now the: Barber Hone part!! Decided to use the Three line Austria Swaty! Before shaving ~10 passes. After the 1st WTG it wasn't shaving well; stopped another ~20 with the real Swaty, same !! Still not shaving well! Stopped and took out the Keen Kutter Barber Hone. And....big change! Started to shave well!! May be the big bucks for the Swaty's may not be warranted ??

(Last) Saturday. Thought I'd try the G. Johnson open razor that I had been using to cut tape, soap etc. took awhile to clean it up. Reset the bevel; sanded 2000 grit) off the rust and honed it up. That was last nite. Used the 3 line Swaty, and the Keen Kutter this morning. Just finished using it. Rehoned it a couple times with the Keen Kutter more passes then usual but ok shave. (For the Rotation- not.); Soap: Vergulde Hand extra fris... Hard soap, amazing that it lathers as fast as it does. Good for open razoring. Brush: Boar; Hone: 3line Swaty and Keen Kutter; AS clubman Bay Rum; Balm: Neutragena . Happy a tries the razor. Might work on it more.?

Thats one of the joys for me in this sport, take a real dawg razor, bad everything, get the edge only back to good steel even if it takes a day,let her shave one more time just because thats what she was made for, than back in the recycle bin, never to be seen again.
