Thanked: 13245Talked with Gerritt on the phone just now, and loaded up examples of all the Vintage scale materials as requested, so the new guys can see, hold, and smell, them all for future ID... They are all from the bench box so there is no issue with doing testing on them...

I warn you, that not all of it. I have a LOT more brushes and safety razors that are cleaned up and "shave ready", about 4 more shave ready straights, and about 40+ straights either in process or waiting their turn in a box. I am to the point where I have to stop myself when I see a "good deal". Though I would really like a few more hones......

I can already see the meet is going to be a success. I wish I could be there but I have had to make an arrangement with my dentist for a full upper (old sometimes stinks) plate. Curtailed trips, purchases, etc. As the old saw goes. I'm buying my dentist a new living room set.
Have fun and learn something new every hour of the meet!"The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

I have a PIF Starter Kit to throw in the mix:
The SR is a Pradere "Ideal de Figaro" that Mariusz/Proximus 26 gave me at the Spring Meet. I procrastinated a lot but got her apart last week and finished working the blade yesterday. She started out with a Frown and needed some heel work as well as the general clean/polish/hone... She still pushes to one side and contacts the scales so maybe we can use her as a Demo Subject for that correction tomorrow... Today is my daughter's birthday and I just ran out of time. But, she has a great edge finished on an Escher. I just Test Shaved today and it was absolutely a DFS! She has had a Barbicide bath and is packed, ready to go to her next home!
The Brush is a lightly restored Ever-Ready Lucte that I put a new TGN Silvertip Badger knot in. The Brush was going nowhere fast in the Classifieds and if I cut the price anymore I'd be losing money so will work great in this kit! Never used following resto.
The Paddle Strop is from Star Shaving and was once Balsa on one side and Felt on the other. It has since been re-done by Gerrit/Deighaingeal and is Balsa on both sides now with one side sprayed with CrOx. Still in great condition with a new life ahead of it.
The Soap is WSP Rustic Shave Soap and will be either Rose or Lavender. Brand new, never used.

This Gear will make a fine Starter Set for the Raffle and maybe we can find a few folks who have no gear and get one of them started out right?

Thanked: 0Just got hone. Haha. Hone. Meant to say home, but it works Just wanted to give a big thanks to MattCB for putting this whole thing together, those raffle prizes were amazing! (Walked away with a BEAUTIFUL 3" strop and a whole bunch of knowledge). HUGE shoutout to gssixguns for honing my razor, and explaining everything he was doing and why. I feel I have a much better understanding of the process, and what to look for. Also, it was nice meeting all of you, solid bunch of guys. Cheers

Just got back home. Long but great day! Thanks everyone who came out, it was a great meet. I am presently having cold pizza, colder beer, and planning on sacking out soon. Will post pics tomorrow. Didn't get as many as I wanted because I was to busy talking ,most lf the afternoon.
