Thanked: 1Hi guys, sorry I haven't been able to contribute completely useless comments to the thread, but I have been a little busy (making sure all my work is done so I don't have anything ruining saturday for me). Just wanted to say that I may be able to come along to a pub (or wherever we do go in the end), but my final answer may have to wait until the day. (all depends on how much prep study I need to get done before next week, and how late the whole meet actually ends).
Also, thanks for the great organisation here, I really can't wait until Saturday (its the only thing keeping me alive during boring workshops and lectures this week).

Thanked: 131I'd MUCH rather go straight from the hall to the hotel to drop off shinies and then for food. I have NO intention whatsoever in losing all my razors AFTER the event. An invite would mean diddly squat then.
As an aside I screwed up one of my best Dovos today in trying to reshape the scales. Put them in boiling water. Scales first discoloured and then cracked. So now I have a Dovo blade to rescale

I'm bringing sarnies and pots of shrimp paste. You know where you are with shrimp paste.

Thankyou Trumpers!!!
I would like to say thank you very much to Geo F Trumper's, especially Nicola Howard. They have very kindly sent us a box of little linen bags of samples of cologne, shave cream & skin food for the Meet. There are enough for everyone to smell & feel great after a damn good shave!
Trumper's rock!

Sir Sidney I know you will need food asap, as well as the diabetics attending. 'Spoonies is a short walk from the hall and doesn't have bouncers or bag checks unlike most of the pubs in the city center.
I could wear a couple of garters to keep blades nice and safe, I dare anyone to try and get them off me!
Seriously though there will be enough of us around to keep an eye on each others bags and make sure our new goodies don't go walkies. Including food we should be clear of the pub and on our way back to the city by 6:30 - 7:00pm at the latest.
I do have a favour to ask though, would you be able to stash our stuff in your hotel room pretty please? We don't have the option to leave our bags anywhere and like everyone else don't want to carry it around all night (remember I will have a video camera and digital camera too, my Ma will slaughter me if those go walkies).
I'm not sure what time the last train back to Wolves is yet but it's usually between 11 - 11:30pm, so we would need to retrieve our bags before heading off for the train.
The Trumpers samples are really cool, although I just want the little baggie not the stuff inside it!

Spike, Silver
You guys are welcome to stash your bags in my room -- I'm staying at the same place as Stephen (I think): the Parragon Hotel. At the price I booked it I'm half expecting it to be the Pariah Hotel!
I'm having to get up relatively early next morning so will be returning to the hotel before your last train for sure.
Cheers
M.

Thanked: 131STOP PRESS- BREAKING NEWS
Ladies and Gents I can now make an announcement i've wanted to make for a while.
On her thread about a week ago I told Colleen (soapmistress churley of TGQ) about our shindig this weekend. I said it was a shame I wasn't better organized else I could arrange for some orders to be taken if she liked. I could have taken orders beforehand and dished them out on the day.
Well folks, she doesn't get as successful as she is without spotting the odd opportunity. She immediately PM'd me asking for my address. I replied with the info but told her it would be way too late to arrange anything.
Well blow me but this morning through my letterbox (US priority air mail no less) comes a load of TGQ sample soaps for you all to try! Colleen you are absolutely amazing. I knew what it was the moment it was posted. The beautiful smells coming from the package were so divine..... oh folks you are in for a rare treat!
So a HUGE thank you goes out to the soapmistress You are a wonderful wonderful woman Colleen, and this weekend i'll be letting everyone try these gorgeous creations of yours.

Gawd bless her, Colleen really is a star! This will be a great opportunity for anyone who has yet to sample TGQ's soaps and creams. They are such great quality. No matter how often I buy another soap or cream from the big boys (GFT, T&H, Penhaligon's, etc.) I always return to TGQ products.
