Thanks a bunch to Chris for putting this all together, Mike for the use of his shop (and for sharing lots of knowledge about steel), and Randy for sharing his knowledge of honing! Thanks also to all those who donated door prizes!
I enjoyed chatting with everyone; checking out all the hones that Chris, Ron, and Randy brought with; and checking out the forge.
It was great to get together and meet some of the guys in the area, and I am looking forward to the next one.
Thanks again,
Zac

Thanked: 8Thank you to everyone that came and to Chris for planning this and Mike for letting us turn his shop in to a mens club house. I learned a lot about honing and steel (I never knew there were so many kinds).
I hope I will be around for the next one.

Chris I am beginning to start to think about shapton's on a regular basis.
Perhaps a little HAD is starting to form.
Boy that W&B that was honed on your shapton's is scary sharp!
Thanks for letting me use your stones on Saturday.

No problem, Sean. Is that the razor that you were honing, yourself? Nice! How does it shave?

Yes, but Randy started it with your 4k then I did 6k then 8k then 16k and it now shaves like a dream.
It shaves much much better than when I did it using the 4k/8k Norton finished with the 12k chinese. Granted I am still learning.
