Well I can't make it up to N.C. this year but I'm already planning to attend next year's gathering.
Hope you all have fun and travel safe. On behalf of all the newbies, please make sure you takes lots of digital pics and videos. And I'm talking about straight-razor-related pics and videos.Last edited by commiecat; 06-04-2009 at 01:37 PM. Reason: formatting

It's about 8 hours north of me.
I sent my dad the info for the meetup. He's an auctioneer in western N.C. (Cullowhee) and while he doesn't use a straight (yet), I did tell him that he could probably sell any barber shop items out there. Not sure if he'd even have time to do that but last time I visited, he had an old barbershop chair in his auction house.
Wish I was on vacation. I could use a dose of sub-90° weather.

Thanks for keeping us who can not attend posted and for orchestrating a feed tomorrow. I hope to tune in at least for a few minutes.
And I hope Randy is either sleeping in his car or he's hired an armed guard to keep watch over his car when it's unattended! That trunk has more value than I don't know what!

A BIG thank you to everyone who had a part in organizing and running the Asheville get together! A very special thanks to Doc (and especially Martha ) who went way, way beyond the call of duty as our gracious Hosts. It was absolutely great.
Pictures should start to show up soon. Just wait til you see the Razor Porn that Sicboater shot.
There was something for everyone, from the newest of new guys to the most grizzled of veterans. Some had their first razors given to them and then honed by Lynn or Glen (gssixgun) and then had a hands on lesson in shaving by Lynn. I guess it could get better than that...but I don't exactly know how. Other members were able to talk hones and honing esoterica with some of the best in the biz. Joe Chandler, Randydance062449 and Spazola had some great razors that they made themselves and it was a real pleasure talking with them about what they were doing. Tim (oldblades) covered at least three full tables with his collection. Awesome!
Everyone that was able to watch the webcast/live feed owes Dwessell a hearty thank you. He overcame a lot of obstacles to put it out.
Special thanks to all the sponsors. The array of stuff given away was truly impressive.
I'm sure I am leaving out a lot, but in my defense, let's just say that I am operating at about 25% thrust at the moment.
All in all, a great event. Thanks, guys.
