japan-messer-shop.de sell them but its actually still cheaper to get them from toolsfromjapan.com. Ive brought a few razors from japan and haven't had to pay duty on them. Just luck of the draw I guess. If they put that its a gift you defiantly don't have to pay duty.

I have also been lucky on the odd occasion but I've also been stung once or twice so I no longer take a chance.

I think they run around $270 or so depending on shipping method.

So my Suehiro Gokumyo 20k arrived a couple of days ago and I used it to touch up my 1850's W & B 7/8 FBU and a modern Dovo Best 5/8. I first put about 10 laps on the Naniwa 12k and followed with 10-15 on the 20K. After stropping I can't believe how sharp these blades were based on instantly popping hair in HHT over the length of the blades. The W & B shaves great and the Dovo is set for tomorrow.

My question, however, is that the stone came along with a very small two sided 1K/3K combination that I have no idea what to do with. Can someone tell me if they use this stone for slurry and/or cleaning and how it is used. Thanks!

I keep mine in the box and haven't used it on my 20k at all. I'm told by mainaman, that it is for cleaning swarf between lapping. Not to generate a slurry. My 20k is delivering similar results as yours and with no help from a slurry stone. As for me and my house, we're going to continue to use the 20k with water only.

Stuart from Tools From Japan was clear with me as to the function of the little stone: to condition the stone after use i.e. to clean it. I use it every time after a session. Two different grits on the little stone, self explanatory, start coarse finish fine. +1 water only, clean hone. This hone has terrific feedback.

So even if you do 1 or two razors using 10-15 laps each you clean off the swarf first with the 1k side and then the 3k?

I just cleaned it with my hand under running water for 10 seconds or so.
