Strangely enough I don't see a BBW mentioned by anyone & it's a very versatile stone that follows a bevel set well & works well with slurry to clean stone. I personally love the Shapton GS series and have sold off most my other stones...except for my knife stones.

You are correct, although think I will prefer the Nubatama Ume Blue Speckled 2K for post bevel.

There are a lot of wonderful stones to choose from, that is why I was asking what others recommend.

I don't like them either if there's an alternative. I'm mostly JNat, and fineness generally goes with hardness, but there's a small percentage that are softer and yet fine.

And one caveat, if you have a darned hard and fine stone, like the CKTG Ozuku I have, it works fine if you slurry it with a worn out diamond plate. You won't live long enough to slurry it with an equivalently hard natural nagura.

    Cheers, Steve

You can use both diamond plate & go over it with hard nagura. Try it you might like.

I somehow missed this post, but yes, I've broken diamond plate slurry with natural naguras and you're right, it's a good thing to do. I know Bill3152 has mentioned that too.

    Cheers, Steve
