I just saw a response from Howard on a sperate topic mentioning that Shapton, Norton, and SpyderCo, need to be "Cleaned" before use because of something called Mold Chill
Reading about it, reminded me of the Naniwa Super Stones when you had to lap off the top 1/32 to get a suitable honing surface..

Not sure what they are running into, but telling me my 16k is a mixed grit ain't convincing in the least, and you know my feelings of Non SR honers and their advice
