Here's a bag I picked up months ago to move my honing supplies around the house. It keeps them together.
At Home Depot for $19.00. I separate the hones inside with foam dividers, if the hones are high dollar hones, I put them in Pelican cases first, then put them in the carry bag.

I realized I had not posted it earlier when I saw Airportcopper's thread with his bag.

The Pelican 1060 series fits the 8" hones quite well:

I think that q taking many stones , on a journey is unreasonable . May be a combo coticule /4000 - 8000 / ,and a finfisher - my Esher . I dont understand the ned of lower grits stones .You will never set a bevell on a travel or vacation .
May be if it is a razor hunting vacation

I think the word "travel" may have given you the wrong impression on the intent of the thread. I get from the opening post that traveling means more like "transporting"; getting your hones from one location to another in an easy, secure manner. I seldom read about a member taking a full set with them on a vacation. Most of the methods listed in this thread are for members who transport their hones for individual teaching or get-to-gathers.

Some pics of my traveling setup, i can also fit in a nani 10k (20mm) too, and a couple of small slates if needed, though this set is more than enough, i just need a pair of scissors

Very true sir so I went back and 'liked' you...

When I travel short distances by car, many times I'll just wrap them in a terry cloth towel and put them in a daypack with some padding in the bottom in case of rough landings.

By air with valuable hones, a Pelican, or a road trip.

    Cheers, Steve
