Oh well...Tired of seeing a pile of hones and razor resting under a towel so decided to make time for it.
Besides. I REALLY need a shave!
After a pile of 1k green hone slurried with a 600 turd and followed by a tenure on 1K Naniwa, an old Wostenholm is headed to 4/8 Norton for a long, light pyramid. 1 boring layer of black Scotch 22 tape.
Thankfully, no tricks necessary!

Outback, is the general idea there that you layer the extra tape right above the uneven bevel/right on top of the worn spine area?
I see you mentioned tape with different thicknesses, I'll try looking into that.Last edited by sonnythehooligan; 12-12-2018 at 02:14 AM.

Sorry for the delay, didn't see the post till now.
My black tape is .008
The red is in the heavy side of .006
The yellow us .005.
The red n black, are 3M, the yellow is a tape for marking anchor rode. Its used on boats with anchor winches, tells you were the anchor is, in relation to the bottom of the boat and the beginning of the anchor chain attached to the rode.
Lift one too fast, and ya might stick it right thru the hull, or at least damage the finish on the boat.

I just stick with the super88 tape. Then if i dont want any tape but still want to protect the spine i use the super strong stuff that is clear. Almost a packaging tape. But super thin. Dont remember what its called but i bought 3 rolls just to be sure i didnt run out.
It's just Sharpening, right?
