Hey! A feller has to set a few back for himself, don't you know?
Besides. I have owned this thing for 10 years at least and am just now honing it!

There's an FBU around somewhere.....I just KNOW it!

I see you mentioned tape with different thicknesses, I'll try looking into that.

Hope this gives you a better understanding. Nothing is to scale, mind you.

BTW, your last piece of tape should be the whole length of the blade, covering all the other pieces..

Fooled around a little tonight with finishers. The Adsworth got the 12k but with a twist, finished it on glycerin, went 20 strokes light as I could go. According to my arm hair it’s sharper than I’m used to off the 12k. The Wester Bros, my test mule, got reset on the 12k then went to the black Arkansas for a lubricant progression, water then progressively diluted with smiths until only Smith’s, around 200-250 laps when it started getting sticky. Haven’t had anything magical yet off the Arky but doesn’t mean I won’t stop trying. Did some more burnishing afterwards too, hopefully I start getting those reputed amazing Anat edges at some point.

Not sure if you can see all the spots on the stone but those are the reflection of the Christmas tree lights at 90*

    Agreed, JFK!

Thanks Outback. Couldn't quite visualize all that before, so the diagram really helps!

I wish we were all gathered around in person so I could ask you what it was you just saw?

I think what I just saw there is something a wee bit past my current capabilities.

I've heard about strategic taping before, I'll save those blades for later.

"Strategic taping"-Do you guys think we could get a good multi-page controversial thread going on that? (Long-time forum vets will get that).

Seriously, though, Mike-I've never seen that concept demonstrated and explained so well. You are a great teacher (and that's coming from a teacher!). I've got just the blade I need to try that on!
