Did a few more today and used a stone I normally don’t use for my own, I picked it up from Gary Haywood several years back. Like I said I normally don’t use for my own as I’m not a coti edge guy as my preference is a JNAT edge but wanted to revisit using it on my own razors so did my usual 1, 4, 8k progression then did a super light slurry for 75-100 laps and did the same on plain water. HHT not as keen as a JNAT but I always compare the shave not how well it pops hair from a hairbrush.

Thank very much Joel, the jar of CrOx arrived today, on my birthday - how perfect is that eh.
I would have been happy to buy it and pay the postage but I was amazed at your generosity when you sent it free and wouldn't let me pay the shipping even.
Thank you again Joel

Thanked: 12
It's been quite a while since I posted here but have never stopped honing.
A recently acquired Nakayama Kita purchased from a very trusted collector. He told me he had honed around the Kanji to test it and it was a "knockout" finisher. I had to try it. Soon after this pic was taken I deflowered it with a large flat piece of Kassei-Do that I use to dress my stones. Performed a full Mikawa Shiro progression with proven nagura on a well used proven razor. She is truly a knockout. Rivals and maybe even trumps my prized Ozuku, and I DO find that surprising. I don"t care about the ornamentation. This puppy is getting put to work.

Just because I can, Steve. Its also been kind of a test. I've always heard the old English steel, loved Coties. Seems so...for most points. It leaves a better stria pattern, ( a better polish than my Thurigan ) for some reason.
It was the same for my FBU, wedge.Mike

Thanked: 556The etching came out great Mike and that bevel looks like it could split hairs from a distance.

Been a while but my hand and shoulder were feeling good today so I decided to hone up 3 razors.
Ern 170 finished on a Zulu Grey. I hadn't used this stone in a few years.
Tiny bevel that took without any issues. A joy to hone this one.
I was feeling pretty good so I try to use this straight to shave with tonight.
I made it through 70 percent of a shave before my hand started shaking. That's the most I've done in over 6 months or more. I'm very happy about that.
Had to finish up with a SE but I loved the challenge.
Best Silver Steel German 3/8".
The bevel is a little wider than I wanted but the edge turned out great. Finished on the 20K then stropped on crox for a little. Shaves the whiskers like going through butter.
Last was a Russian Rocket Razor. I was told it was warped and the bevels are not straight.
The blade was ground a little funny so I had to do some gymnastics to get it honed. But in the end, it was finished on the 20K and has a nice bevel.
I'm happy I was able to add this to my collection as I didn't have any Russian razors. One will be enough.
I will probably pay dearly tomorrow for doing this but it's been so long. I've sat down and in a few days have managed to get a razor honed but the fun was lost.
This was a pleasure to do.It's just Sharpening, right?
