Looks like the start of a heel hook forming there. Too much pressure can cause that.
Keep progressing & see if it becomes a problem later. You may need to grind the heel back a tad.

I was all set to disagree with you after seeing the top photo showing the heel on one side, but the lower photo of the other side makes it more apparent that you are right. However, if it does need to be corrected, it will only need to be ground away a micro-tad.

OK, So I did a few strokes on the heel to get rid of the point there. Looks pretty good to me. I then worked on this with two layers of tape and the 8K Norton. I wasn't getting the toe too well, so I tried with a finger of pressure on the toe. It looks better. Not sure if I need to go further on the toe. Thoughts/suggestions?

P.S. I had the USB microscope at 3 Megapixels, just set it to 5 Megapixels.

Very much improved . Nice job on the heel hook, tho in first pic, still looks like bevel not meeting as denoted by the shiny patch.
Not far off now. Keep refreshing tape regularly & don't be scared to go back to 4k if needed.

As I recall, last time, you were not using enough pressure to flatten the bevels and reach the edge.

Look, like the same issue to me. Close but not completely flat.

He is really at a tipping point here & extra pressure could be a bad thing, if not directed to the edge via torque.
It's a shame we can't quantify the concept because a newbie's idea of pressure can be very different to what you might mean & result in mashed up edges needing remedial attention.

@pcm ~ Whatever you choose to do now just do 5- 10 strokes at a time & assess what effect you are having. Personally I would be back to the 4k. Your goal is to get the whole edge looking like the 2nd pic.

Right, my experience is when you have a chippy edge, fighting it on the 8k usually does, no good. There is still a lot of deep 1k stria on the bevel.

Dropping down to the 4k, which is more aggressive than most folks think will save you time and frustration.

Got to get the bevels flat and hone to the edge.

Dropped to 4K, I think the stria is more even now, but it seems like I'm having trouble getting good contact on the toe, and there is something going on with the heel on one side with horizontal marks. I'm doing a rolling x stroke. Not sure how those marks are occurring, given the angle (heel forward, on part of the way down). I think I was getting some chipping too, on the heel area.

Anyhow, a bit frustrated right now, so taking a break. Here's the latest at 4K:
