I alternate between my bench made Osbourne rift and sog trident. I do occasionally rock a crkt neck knife. When I wanna strap one on I carry either an Ontario RAK or Schrade schf10. But those bad boys are limited to long hikes and camping.

I agree. They're definitely one of my favourites. My local blade store doesn't like to sell any other brands to military guys because he's so confident in their quality and customer service.
I just find most of them are a little big for civilian edc.Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

They are awesome. A little pricey for me, but I'm cheap. That being said they are worth the money.

So I have been playing around with my new Spyderco. You just had to know I would have to reprofile it.
I think it came with something north of 40 inclusive. Which was cool - I mean it was sharp - I just prefer a less "aggressive " angle.
The knife still occupies too much room in the pocket to be a practical edc for me BUT, I am really digging this S30V. I think it would be a great hunting/camping steel. It's way hard.
I note it does the paper cutting ok, but it's as though it's asking, "serious?" It just begs to be abused! And when you do - it's up to it.
It was a pleasure to profile. I found it really needed a hard stone to finish it off. My Chinese 12k and it had a love affair.
I think I'll play with this thing for a bit and see if this steel is all that I am finding it right now. If it is - I'll need to find a edc with the same steel. So far it's putting that Benchmade 154 blade I have to shame lol. We'll see.
p.s. I bet this steel would love an Ark edge.
What do you guys think of the steel? Am I on track?Last edited by earcutter; 08-10-2014 at 02:50 PM.
