Thanked: 227
I got one of these from my brother in law for Christmas. It is a lovely knife, but alas not edc in the UK as it locks. Definitely a knife for carrying off road though.

Thanked: 227Just a curiosity.
Clearly we all edc a knife.
But why? I'm interested in the thoughts from a range of folk, because we are an international community.

Thanked: 227Indeed heh. Feel free to list.
So is it pure utility? Just because you like to? Security? Because the edc you have is somewhat sentimental?

I started with an EDC when one of my internships bought me one. We made automated lubrication systems from a bunch of OTS parts. This required alot of opening packages and cutting tubing, easily accomplished with a decent knife with a good edge. Now, I don't really like having too much in my pockets, so just have various knives in the typical locations where I will need it. Especially since I forgot to leave my best knife at home and had to throw it out at O'Hare. Very late for a plane and didn't have time to ship it to myself from there... It was a gerber fast draw - fine edge, the mechanism does need a little breaking in time, but wonderfully fast and easy one-handed operation. I got the small version for a Christmas present, the quality definitely dropped either between sizes or the 6 years since I received the larger one.

Thanked: 227That does suck, always hurts to loose a good knife. I tend to wear my edc in a pouch on my belt as I also don't like to fill my pockets. Come to think of it, a lot goes on my belt besides my belly 😁
