Nice pile of iron there! Great that the Dutch oven had its lid, seems they have a knack for getting separated through the years. I like the bacon press, too. I don't have one of those, looks like you use it pig side down. Mmmm-mmm I can smell it now!

Cudarunner, I like to save bacon grease to use in the hot skillet just before adding cornbread batter.

Awaiting the arrival of my Wedge Pan right now Tom

They had the Lodge version on sale when I ordered the Carbon Steel pan so I had to

I have always just used a Skillet in the past but everyone was saying how much better it is for Cornbread and Brownies

We shall see soon I guess..

I'm thinking about getting rid of or replacing some of my cast iron. I really don't think the divided corn bread pan or the ear shaped muffin pan are that useful.

Right now, I know I want to keep a Wagner #8 pan. The Lodge #10 Dutch oven might be replaced with a vintage one, but for now it stays.
I just give my wife more space to store her cast iron cause if I was to suggest she get rid of all the muffin irons it would be divorce time. all of her cast iron came from her grandmother, and down here in the mid south cornbread is on the menu most days, so she makes it n all shapes and sizes. I,m not even allowed to touch them Tc

I've been eating off of cast iron all my life. As near as I can tell my cast iron ware started out with my great-grandmother. Too many pieces to mention but it's all very vintage Griswold and Wagner. Easy way to season a big skillet is to brown chicken in lots of lard. Make sure you take a folded paper towel soaked in lard to grease the side of the hot skillet in order to have that seasoned too. Want to season a Dutch oven? Just use it to deep fry fish fillets and use lard. For a real taste treat. Keep your eyes open for a Griswold waffle iron set. There will be three pieces to a complete set.....the two waffle iron halves and the trivet. The irons have a ball on the opposite ends of the handles. These fit in a socket on the trivet. The trivet fits my gas stove burner perfect. To use just put the batter in your hot iron close the iron and cook. When the one side of your waffle is done flip the iron in the trivet socket and cook the other side. Serve them up with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Yeah, I saw a square Griswold waffle iron with trivet this past weekend at the antique store. There were several pieces I would like to have picked up but didn't have the cash. Maybe next time.

If you're a fan of waffles get one.....you won't be sorry. I've watched a few on flea bay and was shocked at the feeding frenzy bidding. Makes me appreciate mine all the more. My Griswold is a round waffle iron with quarter divisions to get four waffles. Pig that I am, I leave the waffles whole and stack them on my plate like pancakes.

+1 on cast iron waffles, nothing compares. I got these two from Lehman's years ago and, while their not Griswold, they are good quality. Rome Cookware I guess they are, and I've always had good experiences with Lehman's. Boy oh boy them waffles are good.

Well gents, you got me going. Guess what's on the menu tonight? Waffles slopped full of butter and Mrs. Butterworth's syrup with fresh Polish sausage links. Better get your waffle iron hot Tuzi.
