    1 1/2 oz dry vermouth
    3/4 oz creme de cassis
    carbonated water
the gin martini is kinda redundant, is there really any other martini. i do love a martini every now and then. ill have to try a vermouth cassis

JD on the rocks or a glass of Merlot for me. If I'm especially bored, I'll go for Almaden Mountain Rhine on rare occasions because it reminds me of when I was in high school. ;-) (1960s)

well.. being the raging alcoholic that i am. i have a tendency to drink anything and everything.. however.. my usual night out drinking usually involves stella throughout the entire night with tequila shots starting after about the fourth pint.. if i get really loaded i'll start doing gnarly bombs. it's a shot of half tequila, half jagermeister.. dropped into salted grass of redbull with lime squeezed into it..

if i'm just having a drink or two with friends.. usually a white russian or a maker's mark with a splash of amerhetto and a couple cherries.

This evening I'm enjoying my new holy grail of beers: Highland Brewery's Gaelic Ale, but I also regularly drink PBR's, if that means anything.

On the occasional night out with friends to a brew pub that has something like 300 beers from around the world, I'll usually try some new wheat-beer or exotic ale.

As for the hard stuff, I like gin and tonics with lime in the summer. In the colder months I like bourbon (Dickel, Maker's Mark, some of the other sweeter bourbons), and if I'm flush with cash, the occasional bottle of scotch (Dahlwhinnie is a favorite single malt), though I'm just as happy with Johnny Walker red, Dewar's, or Cutty Sark.
There are many roads to sharp.

My beverage of choice is often determined by the bar, my mood, what I started drinking at home and the season.

    Case studies:
Dive bar: Shot and a beer (Jack/Jameson and a Bud). When the crowd's rowdier I'll wave the empty bottle and be happy enough. If I'm rowdier I'll just have the shot and start throwing the bottles...

Mexican joint: 'Ritas! Until the lime juice gets to me and it's shots of tequila and beers.

Buttoned down lounge: A classic ****tail like a Gin-n-Tonic (summer) or Black Label Rocks (Winter).

    Cuban place: Mojitos

If I started with anything earlier in the evening I usually keep it up. Mixing has a way of making me regret it.

Finally, if I show up and someone's has a drink and offers me one, I just ask for one of the same. Guests should not be fussy.

Guinness. No, it's not beer, it's stout. Surely an Irishman such as yourself, would be knowing that now, wouldn't ya', lad?

    Default whisky and ale

When I'm at home usually a wee 330 of some craft ale, or a whisky. If I'm on a night out usually lager, ending with (almost) anything. When I'm with friends usually just straight whisky with what I usually put in it...what is it again...

    Ah yes.

    More whisky.

I mostly stick with lager and try to avoid strong drinks. In some rare cases i want to take hard ones it is either malt whiskey with ice or strong herb liqueur such as Jägermeister, Vana Tallinn or Fernet Branca.
