It may seem strange because it's so simple, but I'm partial to cucumber and cheese, preferably on rye or whole wheat bread.

Thanked: 7A good Cuban is hard to beat. My all time favorite is a sandwich I had in Canada right above the Vermont border, can't remember the town or restaurant but it was near Lake Memphramagog. It was a ham and swiss panini with a nice garden salad. Perfect bread, with perfect ham and cheese and butter instead of mayo. Sooooooooooooo good I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

Thanked: 39Just thinking about this is making me hungry (which is bad news because I need to go to bed soon), but:
One slice, freshly baked Italian bread,
pile it high with thinly sliced Genoa salami,
add a couple slices of Provolone cheese,
*every once in a great while, some hot giardiniera*
Second slice of bread dipped in a mixture of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a little oregano.
Mmmmm. I really wish my fridge wasn't sans salami right now!
