No, never tried that. Usually, just the standard, pound the bejebus outa it and wash it in egg and bread it and quick fry in oil. My favorite is to wrap it around an ortega chile, with a slice of pepper jack cheese and quick fat fry it. Abalone is why I cant see me being anywhere but where I am, love that stuff.

Sorry to get off track again. I can't wait to swim around the rocks again. The pic in the middle is a Cabezon, rock fish. Sorry to double up on the other pics, that's my brother in the black and my Mexican buddy, Paco in the blue, alas, I sit on the bluff and watch for now. I have some great pics of the harvest, but they are on my phone. I did take a pipe with me last time over, nothing better than a good smoke by the sea!

Thanked: 983Not if what your smoking is cheese and seafood...I prefer a nice tobacco in my pipe personally...
Nice pic's mate. I've got to go rescue my tea though. I only meant to have a quick check of the forum before taking my tea, pipe and book out to enjoy the day on the veranda.
Just a basic black tea (bagged), but on the strong side. Homemade biscuits (cookies for some of you foriegners ) might also be the order of the morning. It is Smoko time afterall.

Thanked: 443Hey guys,
Been offline a while, resettling in Durango, Colorado (at least for a little while) and working 5 p.m.-3:30 a.m., automating the lights in their public schools. Went into town today and somehow ended up in a coffee/tea shop, and left with a snazzy new teapot and a couple bags of loose tea. One's a green Earl Grey; haven't tried that yet. The other wasn't really tea, but a very yummy rooibos concoction (Ginger Pepper Orange Rooibos) that is also heavy on vanilla. Broke in the new pot with it tonight:
The mug, a stainless giveaway from a construction company. The honey, local. The coaster is a Navajo weave, also local. The pot (Japanese) has a snazzy little stainless infuser basket, and the stainless lid pops away for easy cleaning. The store clerk was sad to see it go; this green one was her favorite. Mine too, over some that would have been a better size. But the green spoke to me, and I listened."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanked: 1160I have a pot just like that one only black.Only bummer is the basket is hard to replace due to it's diameter.Good little pots though just the same.I keep trying to justify buying a nice little brown betty pot,but the Japanese pot stands stout and dependable..so it goes.

Thanked: 983Almost out of tea bags. Will be using more of my supply of loose leaf now. Looks like I will be using those little green, fire dragon cups from Korea when I want just a single cuppa now. They come complete with insert for tea leaves. Had the buggers for years. Never looked at them 'til recently. A mate brought them back from a years teaching English over in Korea. One of those gifts that you look at, think "oh that's nice" and put them in your little souvinier(spelling) cabinet to gather dust. I might have to drag out the ones from China a bit further back to see what they look like too!

Thanked: 443Now enjoying the green Earl Grey from Durango. It's got a lingering cardamom burn in the mouth, though I don't think there was cardamom in it. It's a good convincing blend, not too citric, not too tannic.
I've replaced caffeinated soda in my lunch box with bottled green tea, but am thinking of making and bottling my own so I can get away from the high-fructose corn syrup."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
