    Zib,
I am glad that all your disposal is for a good puerh tea brewing. Mold on puerh tea cake I also think it is not normal. Probably were not well stored.
The puerh teas are diverse and need to try which is that like it for you. I've tasted flavor of railway sleepers. Care should be taken in the course of the tea brewing time (approx. half - one minute) and quantity of tea.

    Maybe try this:

Mengku Gold Award Mini Pu-erh Tea Cake 2005 145g Ripe

Small, cheap and for me one of my favorites.
    Cheers,
    Béla

When talking about antioxidant and polyphenol content in tea, we should also consider the effect of the oxidation occurring in Black, Wu Long and Pu Erh teas processing soon after harvesting (commonly and wrongly known as "fermentation"). The oxidation required for producing Black, Wu long and Pu Erh teas partly decreases and alters the content of antioxidant and polyphenols substances in leaves.

You are absolutely right, Béla. Production of Pu Erh tea is probably the most complex of them all, and keeping is one of the most crucial factors in order to have a perfect Pu Erh. This is also true during all the production phases, in particular for aged Pu Erh. In any case, any hint of mold in Pu Erh (or any other tea) is a severe fault ruining forever the aromas and taste of any tea.

Guess we do have alot in common.although I don't drink a whole lot anymore and it has been a while, but I do rather like the fortified wines. Ports, muscat, madeira, sherry, etc. not to mention sweet reds and reislings. And no I'm no expert so I cannot rattle off brands, but I just like'em. Nice Carl
