I tried Jack Daniels single cask last night at a friends place. Interesting stuff and better than the standard. Mostly smelled of PVA glue and emulsion paint until I added the water and then it had some notes of vanilla and herbs. I'm still not convinced by Jack Daniels in general and will probably never buy it, but it was still interesting to try one of their better efforts.

Evan Williams tonight. Might be too plain for some folks but it is a good, smooth drink.

Went over to a co-workers last night, and good lord what collection; Bowmore, Glen Ellen, more Glenfarclas than you could shake a stick at, I think that there was probably a quarter of my years salary in that collection.

Tried a 33yr old Banff. Sublime.

And a 25yr old Laphroig. Interesting, very medicinal.

My wife is planning to purchase a bottle of Tin Cup American Whiskey to take to the get together tonight. Has anyone here tried it?

I love Glenfarclas and try to get their 12 or 15 year old expressions whenever their local distributor has these in stock. Highland Park is another favorite.

I did welcome the New Year with Hibiki 17.

Glenfarclas is one of my favorites, as well. I got to try the 25 yr Quarter Cask when we were over in Scotland this summer. Aside from the Banff, it is the best I've tasted.
