Tonight's selection. Flowery note, no smoke, and a bit light on the heat. Mellow but not in a good way. Watery as if diluted by a a teenager fearing his fathers discovery of sampling. Suspect indeed..........( to be continued). Name: image.jpg

I thought it smelled much more interesting than it tasted. Complex nose, much less flavour. I found it got a little more interesting when the bottle had been open for a few days, so do keep us informed. I only had a 200ml bottle and wouldn't buy a full size one, although I haven't completely ruled out another small one.

Well I'm impressed with the Glenfarclas.

It's not quite how I imagined it would be, considering what the 105 is like and how I was looking for a richer, more sherried malt.

There is indeed the deep sweetness of the sherry casks and an underlying tone of raisin and dried fruit, like the 105. However, much more prominent is the oil and tar in both nose and palate. Definitely has a thick mouth feel.

A teaspoon of water releases more lighter, fruitier flavours in addition, though I don't think that this necessarily makes it any better, just different.

If I didn't know, I'd probably mistake this for an island whisky. Glad I picked this one up!

Very nice. Do you ever try this with a splash of ginger ale, or club soda?

No at the moment I haven't took a chance at any mixing, just enjoying the natural flavors. But as my "Palette library" increases I am hoping to try a few things out. Thanks for the idea
