Waitrose has is on offer at £32. Is it worth picking up a bottle?

My other options are a'bunadh for £35, a full price benromach something-or-other for £41, or a caol isla for the same (different, I know, but I'd like one none the less). Trying not to spend too much but thinking about value for money...
A'bunadh for £35 seems like a good deal to me, although I'm a bit out of touch with English prices. £41 for caol isla seems a bit much (although it's pretty nice) and I've never bought benromach. I'd go with the a'bunadh, I'm quite a fan. Not tried glenfarclas 12.

Like, good greasy or bad greasy?

"A supurb re-working of an always trustworthy malt. This dramatic change in shape works a treat and suits the malt perfectly. What a sensational success!" - Jim Murray, 2013
In 2006 the 12 Year Old was named the ‘Best Sherried Whisky’ in the Single Malt World Cup. More recently Glenfarclas 12 Year Old won Gold at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in 2007 and again in 2008.

For me , I can definitely taste the sherried notes and also the spiciness that lingers long afterwards. Although to some, it's considered to be sacrilege, I like to add just a teaspoon of water and it really brings out the flavours.
I enjoyed it and I think at that price it's worth giving it a try.Name: IMAG1412.jpg

Nice one - thanks. I think I'll grab a bottle.

Bear in mind, at first it seems to be a little rough round the edges but if you give it a chance it smooths out especially when you add the water. But only a teaspoon at a time so as not to dilute it too much, depending on your taste of course.

Ugh....like taking a shot of smoke. I love scotch but this is the first time in 20+ years I've found one that "repels".

    Default Scotch/whiskey of the day

    Ooh, I'll have it!

Also, slasher, thanks for the tip. Some do have so much more flavour with touch of water allowed to air.

I think my bunnahabhain 12y/o was somewhat similar.

Funnily enough. I'm at the end of an aberlour 10 y/o, which tastes thin and bland if you add any water to it.

I've heard that about aberlour. In fact I heard it was surprisingly bad when you consider that they also produce a'bunadh. Still want to try it though.

ps. I'll fight you for the caol Ila! See you in the playground after school.
