I see that you've got a bottle of the glenrothes there. What do you think about that one?

I would count it as a good everyday drinker. Provides a nice warmth and easy to drink.

I've had it before but wasn't awfully impressed with it. Not great but not bad really.

I can get them Aberlour 16 here too. It's good, I just prefer the a'bunadh.
Here in the next month I'm planning on getting a bottle of the Yamazaki 18. That'll be interesting. I'm lookin forward to making a full report on it.When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching

Thanked: 10Personally, I like whiskies flavored with peat from Orkney better than those that feature peat from Islay. My recommendation would be Talisker 10 year old, or the youngest Highland Park (I think it's a 12 year old). The Mackinlay's "Shackleton" replica also has Orkney peat and is pretty tasty.

Thanked: 36I second the vote for Talisker. It was the first single malt I ever tried and it's been a favourite ever since. Highland park is also a good choice for a first peated whisky. I'd consider adding lagavulin 16 yo to the list. It's been a while since i had it, but I remember it being very very peaty but still quite gentle.
