Thanked: 0I shot an email to henckels customer service trying to find all the info i can on my 401 platinum. they requested pix, which i provided and they sent them off to the german henckels customer service to look through the records. ANytime now they might be mailing me back with some info.
May be a good thing to try for others with questions about thier blades from henckels, since the company still exists.

Sorry, I just came across this posting...
The scales are "oosk/Dyed Maple scales made by Bill Ellis". He had a blog on making razor scales a while back, and used that razor for the demo.
Bill's Straight Razor Info: January 2006
Enjoy! They are a beaut!!

I read about guys praising their Henckels and have wanted one for some time now but since they were expensive I figured it would be a long time, if ever, before I would own one. Thanks to a fellow member I was able to buy this J. A. Henckels Twin Works '15' 5/8 square point blade only that was listed here in the classifieds at a very reasonable price, I now own one, Thanks Val! All it needed was scales and honed. I may make some Brazilian Cherry scales for it sometime down the road but am very happy with the white celluloid, in the meantime I can enjoy shaving with it......they are great shavers!
